Less than a week until the NFL Draft, where are the best landing spots for certain prospects?

I wanted to take a look at some 1st round prospects, and make a (somewhat) realistic match for them with a 1st round team.

This will be more personal to my opinion. These will be my favorite fits for prospects in the 1st round. A combination of where is best for the player, but also a realistic possibility for the team.

Let's get into!

TE Kenyon Sadiq - Carolina Panthers

My favorite fit in this draft.

The Panthers need another offensive weapon for Bryce Young. They could take a WR for the 3rd straight season, or take Sadiq, an absolute weapon downfield and with the ball in his hands.

To me, it's a perfect fit. Rather than taking another WR just to play the slot, draft a more all encompassing weapon in Sadiq. Bryce Young gets a guy who can actually run after the catch, but it also a vertical threat down the seams.

Tetairoa McMillan and Jalen Coker are two solid WRs who can operate similarly. Great outside vertical threats, solid route runners who use their size to work over the middle, and when given the ball in stride, are good after the catch. And pairing Sadiq with TE Tommy Tremble is ideal. Sadiq won't always have to have his hand in the dirt and be a traditional Y TE. He can be in the slot, used as a motion man. This is the ideal way to use Sadiq, as a movement blocker.

Sadiq to Carolina is a win for everyone except Ja'Tavion Sanders.

LG Olaivavega Ioane - Baltimore Ravens

Ioane to Baltimore has been heavily mocked all draft season.

And for good reason.

For one, whenever the Ravens have a high pick, a no-brainer selection seems falls to them in the draft. Ioane is one of the most clear-cut prospects in this draft, but nobody gets excited about guards. And two, the Ravens lost C Tyler Linderbaum in free agency. Baltimore also had a bit of a weakness at guard last season.

They signed John Simpson to fill the RG spot once again, but are could use an upgrade at LG and C. Drafting Ioane gives them a stalwart at LG for the rest of Lamar Jackson's career, and a massive OL upgrade for 2026.

Not much to say here besides that Baltimore could an elite prospect that has the perfect ability to operate in new OC Declan Doyle's offense and actually give the Ravens an above average offensive line in front of their MVP QB.

LT Kadyn Proctor - Cleveland Browns

Recent reports have connected this prospect and team and it's obvious why.

The Browns have rebuilt their offensive line this offseason, but there is a glaring hole at LT. And as apart of their rebuilt OL, the theme is power. New HC Todd Monken does historically have more of a power like run game as well. But the additions of Zion Johnson and Tytus Howard specifically indicate this.

Kadyn Proctor is over 6'6, 350lbs. He embodies power, despite also being a ridiculous athlete. The question for Proctor is his playing weight. There's no doubt he could be a guard in the NFL, but if he doesn't get his weight under control, it may be difficult for him to survive on an island at LT. Proctor has played at over 370lbs at Alabama, and the difference is quite noticeable compared to when he's sub 360.

I'm sure NFL teams want him just under 350lbs for him to operate comfortably at LT. And the Browns would be amongst that group, as they would be drafting him to be their starter at LT.

The need for the Browns, combined with the immense upside of Proctor, along with the play-style fit, all the strings seem to be connecting here.

QB Ty Simpson - Arizona Cardinals

The rumor mill is overly hot with this pairing.

Arizona's current starting QB is Jacoby Brissett, a 33 year old journeyman who wants a pay raise. Ty Simpson is the consensus QB2 in this draft, it's just a question of where he lands in the draft. The Cardinals have Pick 34, the second selection of Round 2. It's logical to assume they could move up the draft slightly to draft Simpson in Round 1.

Besides the fact that Arizona doesn't have a long-term option at QB, Simpson still makes sense. The Cardinals have solid offensive infrastructure, and they could even add to it with the 3rd overall pick. Simpson will have a real opportunity to operate an NFL offense in Arizona, unlike some other potential destinations. And he'll have new HC Mike LaFleur calling plays.

One of the widely considered pros for Simpson is play style. He ran a more "pro style" offense in college. Meaning, he operated at the line of scrimmage and threw in-breaking routes in the middle of the field. This is not common for college QBs. Simpson should be more comfortable in a Shanahan style offense.

Arizona using their second pick on Simpson is lower risk. You're getting a guy who may be more comfortable out of the gates in your offense, and he's surrounded by positive offensive talent. This may be Simpson's best fit, and makes good sense for the Cardinals.

EDGE T.J. Parker - Los Angeles Chargers

A picture perfect third rusher in LA?

Maybe not perfect, as you often want your third rusher to offer a different flavor. But Parker would be a great fit for the Chargers. Khalil Mack is 35 and on a 1 year deal, and Tuli Tuipulotu has one year left on his rookie contract. There is no depth beyond them, the Chargers need to address edge in this draft, for 2026 and beyond.

Parker is a great fit in his style being what the Chargers have liked over the last few years. He has great size, over 6'3 and 260lbs, creating the ability to have good power. Parker also has a great long-arm on the edge. But he also possesses enough twitch and a diverse pass rush bag to be a starter on the EDGE.

I love this fit because I can see Parker in the powder blue, he just seems exactly like their type of edge rusher.

DE Keldric Faulk - Houston Texans

Despite having two of the best defensive ends in the NFL, Houston needs to add to the room.

Yes, they do. None of their backups have much pedigree in the NFL, and Danielle Hunter will be 32 and is signing just 1 year deals. Also, the Texans rotate their defensive ends quite often. Will Anderson Jr played 67% of snaps and Hunter played 70%, fairly low numbers considering how elite the pair is. Houston needs quality guys to rotate. So that's why Faulk landing here is realistic.

I like this fit because of the landing spot for Faulk. The 6'6, 275lb 21 year old won't have to have a large workload right away, and can explore versatility on the DL. Maybe he's more of an interior rusher, or even full time interior defender!

Faulk is considered raw. He's young and has incredible size, but is not a refined pass rusher. Landing in Houston, he'll have a more advantageous situation and a better chance to improve before taking on a bigger role.

Houston is my favorite spot for Faulk to develop, but also just learn to have this attack mindset at the line of scrimmage.

WR Denzel Boston - Buffalo Bills

A perfect addition to round out an improved WR room.

The Bills already spent their 2nd round pick on a WR in D.J. Moore, but this pick would be worth it to me. Moore isn't a long-term solution, and will eat up the intermediate parts of the field with his speed for Buffalo. Khalil Shakir is a great slot option and RAC player. To me, Boston perfectly rounds out this group. It also allows Buffalo to not have to rely on Keon Coleman, or Josh Palmer, Gabe Davis, and Tyrell Shavers who are all coming off injuries.

Boston has the ability, size, and hands to live outside the numbers in the NFL. His superpower is making difficult catches look easy, but he has the ability to subtly separate and make things easier on the QB. He is so much more than a "big bodied deep threat," as many have stereotyped him as.

Yes, this is a lot of capital to spend on WR in an offseason. But let's turn a weakness into a strength, and draft a guy who will be with your MVP QB for the rest of his career.

These were some of my favorite fits for 1st round prospects. I only went over seven, and it's unlikely we will to get to see how these play out, but I am hoping we get at least a couple.

I believe these fits are beneficial for both these prospect's careers as well as the teams that would hypothetically draft them.
